Legend of Guanyin in Hongfu Temple

On a high slope in Wuliliang Village, southeast of Qixian County, there is a temple called Hongfu Temple. The temple is dedicated to the colorful clay sculptures of Guanyin and the accompanying maid. Villagers in nearby Qiliba Township will come to ask for help whenever they encounter any trouble. Therefore, Hongfu Temple has a strong incense. There are more than a dozen monks living here for a long time. They carefully clean the courtyards and temples every day. Every morning, bells and drums chime, chanting and worshiping Buddha.

Guanyin in the temple is very effective and almost responsive. Many pilgrims come to worship and ask for things, and there are many people coming and going. A small market has naturally formed around Hongfu Temple. Many vendors have gathered to set up stalls, some selling incense sticks, some selling children's toys, fruits and vegetables, some selling melon seeds and peanuts, some selling scarves and headdresses, and some selling old tofu.

On this day, a beautiful little girl came out of the temple. She is only seventeen or eighteen. Her eyebrows are like willow leaves, her eyes are like pearls, her nose is like mountains, and her mouth is like cherries. She is very clever. She wants to touch everything and play with it. She looks a little silly.

She chose a wave drum in a toy stall, a silver rose hairpin in a headdress stall and a bowl of old tofu, saying that she lived in a temple, went back to get money and sent it out later.

I waited until the sun went down and the vendors went home, and I didn't wait until the girls in the temple came out to deliver money. Several vendors went into the temple together and asked the monk for money. Hearing this, all the monks were anxious. When did the patroness live in the temple? This is not a monk, insulting the reputation of the temple. They soon announced that no woman had ever lived in a temple, let alone a beautiful little girl.

Manufacturers don't want to listen. Can't we take money from your temple? Obviously, they came out of the temple, bought things and went back to the temple, and never came out again. Monks who become monks also lie and hide a woman in a temple. This problem is a bit serious.

Monks are naturally angry and swear that if they find the woman in their mouth from the temple, they are willing to pay the arrears for ten generations. The vendors also vowed that if they could not find this person and wronged the monk, they would not set up their stalls here and find another place.

At this time, there are too many people watching, and they will give their opinions noisily and help find them together. So people went door-to-door to look for it, and deliberately turned the room where the monk lived upside down, and there was no sign of the little girl.

The peddler is puzzled. Why did the little girl go into the temple with something and disappear? Maybe she flapped her wings and flew away. A vendor suggested: Let's call Guanyin and see what Guanyin said.

A group of people came to Kannonji and were about to kowtow when they found that something was wrong with the maid beside Guanyin. She looks exactly like the girl who bought something. They immediately found the evidence again. The maid has a silver hairpin on her head, a wave drum in her arms, and an empty bowl with old tofu at her feet.

This time, the monks had to admit defeat in the bet and paid the vendor ten times what they owed. The vendors naturally left happily. Monks, on the other hand, feel that their faces will really hang up and lose the face of the temple. They welded a chain around Guanyin and her maid.

Guanyin Bodhisattva has great powers, but she can't even control the maid. She felt sorry for herself. Her dirty face is as red as a layer of red ink, and she can't wipe it off.

You saw Hongfu take away the red-faced Guanyin surrounded by the chain, and that's how it came about.
