Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge is one of the projects of Soviet aid to China 156. Construction started in September, 1955, 10 officially opened to traffic, 1957, 15.

The total length is about 1, 670 meters. The upper level is highway bridge (107 national highway), and the lower level is double-track railway bridge (Beijing-Guangzhou railway). The bridge body has 8 piers and 9 holes, each with a span of1.28m.. The 10,000-ton ship can pass under the bridge. Except pier No.7, the other eight piers are drilled with "large pipe string".

Significance of Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge;

Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge is the "First Yangtze River Bridge", connecting the north-south traffic artery of China. It was completed and opened to traffic as early as 1906 and 1936, but when the two railways arrived in Wuhan, they were separated by the Yangtze River and never connected. With the completion of Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge, Beijing-Han Railway and Guangdong-Han Railway are connected to form a complete Beijing-Guangzhou Railway. For Wuhan, the Yangtze River Bridge connects Wuchang, Hankou and Hanyang as a whole, which realizes the basic traffic conditions for Wuhan's rapid development.
