This is an ancient village with a long history, dating back to the Tang Dynasty. The village buildings are close to the kiln site in northern Shaanxi, built along the river according to the mountain, and retain a large number of ancient buildings such as brick kilns, quadrangles and independent caves, as well as exquisite brick carvings, wood carvings and stone carvings. The exquisite and unique ancient stage, Kannonji and Bodhisattva Hall in the village are living fossils of northern folk culture. Hougou Village has formed a complete folk culture system with its simple farming culture, pure natural culture, traditional belief culture and flexible ecological culture.
The roads in the village are all stone roads, paved or erected, and many of them have worn out the traces of time. Most of the courtyard walls are made of layers of red stone. Despite the wind and rain, it is strong, simple and beautiful.
The trees here are also unique to ancient villages. Before entering the village, the roadside trees were planted with a unique cypress, which was more than three meters high and the trunk was full of leaves. The diameter of each branch is about one meter, the leaves are green and graceful, and winding along the road adds a lot of fun. Into the village, two stout jujube trees, or in the yard, or in Yuan Shang, or in front of the door, or across the middle of the road. Millennium-old Sophora japonica, dead trees with new branches, mottled bark witnessed the ancient village. Last year's Gleditsia sinensis was still hanging on the Gleditsia sinensis tree, and the new leaves were covered with branches. Jujube trees can be seen everywhere on the ridge, showing the tenacity of life. There is also a huge Toona sinensis tree in the middle of the village, which is more than ten meters high and needs several people to surround it. The huge crown is full of vitality and prosperity.
Most of the houses here are caves with five holes. Cave dwellings are dug along the mountain, some are tens of feet deep, some are covered with kilns, some are covered with kilns, some are connected with them, some are equipped with suspension bridges, some have kiln doors on one side of the mountain, and windows are open on the other side. It is really a cold and hot world between holes.
Ancient buildings are scattered here, and the temple system is quite perfect. Guandi Temple, Wenchang Pavilion, Zhenwu Temple, Sanguan Temple, Kuixing Building, Kannonji, Bodhisattva Temple, Mountain Temple, River Temple, Wudao Temple and other temples and ancestral temples are all built according to Feng Shui, and they stand in the direction, so it is really impossible for a small village with dozens of families to accommodate Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism, but it is also true that it is owned by a village with 200 to 300 people. No wonder it attracts many tourists and some movies and TV shooting. Remember last year's hit "Yu Chenglong", where the scenes of leaving home and the stage were shot?
The drainage system here is also first-class. The waterway is buried deep underground, and each courtyard has a water intake, which finally flows into the river around the village. Don't collapse in case of mountain torrents, and don't be muddy in case of light rain. No wonder experts say that the drainage system in the ancient village is absolutely first-class.
This is the concentration of farming civilization. Go to the Agricultural Culture Museum. All kinds of farm tools, agricultural products, food, clothing, housing and transportation are readily available, showing people an endless rural picture of self-sufficiency in spring and autumn harvest. I come from the village. I know most of these things and have used many of them. Walking, recalling the ups and downs of that year, my heart is quite delicious.
This is a paradise. The newly sown farmland smells of earth, with green apricots, pear blossoms and peony flowers in full bloom. Hens pose in the forest, roosters crow from time to time, dogs bask in the sun at the door, donkeys graze leisurely, birds chirp in the trees, and people who sell their own dried dates are naturally harmonious.
It's almost noon. Let's get something to eat in the Youth College. It is said that this is the place where the first educated youth lived, hence the name Siheyuan. Sitting under the grape trellis in the yard, we ordered bitter vegetables, sour soup enema and two bowls of cat ears, and the delicious peasant flavor echoed in our hearts for a long time.
On the way back, the golden elm stopped by the roadside and walked ten miles between Yulin. Blue sky and white clouds, the sound of chickens and dogs has long gone, leaving only ancient villages in my heart.
