The weather and climate in Yichang since it entered Mei this year has four main characteristics:
First, plum blossoms enter early and leave late, lasting for a long time. I entered Mei on June 8 this year, 8 days earlier than usual. As of July 12, the number of days in Mei Yu reached 35 days, 9 days more than the average number of days in a year. From the analysis, the rainy season in our city may exceed 40 days this year, which is the longest rainy season since 1998.
Second, heavy rainfall and wide coverage. Since entering Mei, the average rainfall in the city is 560.4 mm, ranking first in the plum rains over the years. The total rainfall since May has exceeded the average rainfall in the main flood season. Heavy rainfall covers the whole city, and the rainfall in counties and cities is 356.3 ~ 685.9 mm, which is 1 ~ 2.5 times more than the same period in history. There are 18 provincial-level automatic weather stations with accumulated rainfall exceeding 800 mm in the city, and the maximum rainfall is 1286.4 mm, which appears in Wufeng Bay Beach.
Third, the heavy precipitation process is frequent and highly overlapping. There have been eight regional heavy precipitation processes in the city. Heavy rains have occurred many times in Wufeng, Changyang, Yuan 'an and Dianjun, and the rainstorm areas are highly overlapped.
Fourth, extreme, causing serious disasters. The strongest precipitation since entering Mei occurred on June 27th, with heavy rains in Yichang, Yuan 'an, Dangyang and Wufeng. On the 27th, the rainfall at Ye Mingzhu Station in Xiling District was 27 1.6mm, Bailonggang Park Station was 253. 1mm and Three Gorges University Station was 258.4mm, all exceeding the maximum daily rainfall since Yichang National Meteorological Station 195 1. This heavy rainfall has caused many geological disasters such as waterlogging, landslides and mudslides in urban and rural areas of our city.
In addition, the rainfall of Yichang, Yuan 'an, Wufeng, Changyang, Dangyang and Yiling National Meteorological Stations in June has exceeded the historical extreme value in the same period, and the monthly rainfall of other counties and cities ranks in the top five in history.
