1904 New Zealand introduced kiwifruit from Yichang, Hubei, China for domestication and cultivation. Cangxi kiwifruit was bred in 1924 (this variety still accounts for more than 95% of China's overseas cultivation area and 20% of China's cultivation area). 1930 began to be commercialized, and 1952 was successfully exported to Britain.

Opening up the European market, driven by the high profit of 1970, New Zealand began large-scale commercial planting, which immediately triggered a worldwide commercial planting fever of kiwifruit until 1990. After more than 90 years of development, it has formed an international industry, with a planting area of about 65438+ 10,000 hectares and a total output of 1 10,000 tons.

People in Cangxi Kiwifruit Mountain are called "carambola", also called "base fruit" and "rattan peach". In the Ming Dynasty, Li Shizhen made the following explanation: "Its shape is like a pear, its color is like a peach, macaques like to eat, and it is called kiwifruit."
