This kind of fruit first appeared in Xinjiang, which has been rich in fruits and vegetables. Because of the geographical reasons in Xinjiang, fruits can be bathed in the daytime.
At night, sunlight can accumulate sugar and make the fruits grown in Xinjiang very sweet.
In fact, cantaloupe was not originally called cantaloupe by Xinjiang people. This kind of melon was also discovered by accident, because once the local people in Xinjiang accidentally ate this kind of melon, which was particularly sweet and delicious, and this kind of fruit belongs to melons, so people called this sweet fruit melon, so the name of melon came from this.
In ancient times, people had a custom of paying tribute to the emperor. Different countries and regions will have different tributes, but most of them are local specialties. Kangxi naturally tasted tributes from many places, and Xinjiang was rich in fruits, so King Hami at that time presented Kangxi with a kind of fruit, which Kangxi mistakenly called cantaloupe.
Kangxi ate this sweet fruit, but he didn't know what it was called. Kangxi suddenly remembered that this fruit was sent by King Hami. Emperor Kangxi combined Xinjiang local dialect with King Hami, and finally Kangxi called it "Hami melon".
In fact, cantaloupe is not a specialty of Hami. Miraculously, Hami melon was presented to Hami by people from other parts of Xinjiang. This place is Shanshan area, which is Shanshan County. Therefore, this kind of melon was not called Hami melon in Xinjiang at that time. According to the method named by Kangxi, this kind of melon should be called "Shanshan melon".
Anyway, with the precipitation of time, the name has been passed down from generation to generation. The saying of cantaloupe has a history of 400 years. I didn't expect that there are so many stories behind our cantaloupe!
