Zhang Yimou's costume film Shadow actually overhead the historical dynasty, so the characters and places in the film are fictional, but the film is adapted from Zhu Sujin's novel The History of the Three Kingdoms Jingzhou, so Shadow should be taken from the Three Kingdoms period, which originally intercepted the fragment of "the carelessness of Jingzhou" in the novel, but the "shadow" is too big for the novel and history, so I chose to make up a historical story.

Yu Zi's prototype is Zhou Yu, a famous Dongwu player in the Three Kingdoms period. Zhou Yu was finally saddened by Zhuge Liang because of the arrow wound and jealousy in The Romance of the Three Kingdoms. It is precisely because of this story, plus Zhang Yimou is a fan of Kurosawa, especially like Kurosawa's book "Shadow Warrior", that I thought of making a movie about body double, so I chose the footage from Jingzhou in the Three Kingdoms, but

If the prototype is Zhou Yu, the realm in the film is Jingzhou, Ryan plays Pei Gong as Sun Quan, the monarch of the Three Kingdoms period, while Sun Li plays Xiao Qiao, Wang Jingchun plays the outstanding strategist of Wu, and Guan Xiaotong plays Qing Ping as Sun Quan's sister.
