Yangzhou city was built in 486 BC. During the Spring and Autumn Period, Yangzhou was called John; Qin and Han Dynasties were called Guangling and Jiangdu; In the Eastern Jin and Southern Dynasties, Yanzhou was located in the south; In the Zhou Dynasty, it was called Wu Zhou. The Sui Dynasty changed Wu Zhou to Yangzhou in the ninth year of Emperor Huang, but the general office was still located in Danyang (now Nanjing).
