Dabei Temple is 35km away from Xichong County and 1.5km away from Xinian Township. Compared with Nianya Township in the south, it is an ancient temple in the north of Xichong County. According to the investigation of the remains in the temple, its temple was built in Tang Zhaozong and flourished in Shaoxing, Song Gaozong. Its descendants have risen and fallen, and they have been destroyed and built repeatedly. The names of Dabei Temple have been marked on the maps of past dynasties. At that time, there was a tall statue of Guanyin Bodhisattva in Dabei Temple, so it was called Dabei Temple. The people of China revered Guanyin the most, and the incense was strong. At the end of the Ming Dynasty, thousands of ancient temples and full houses of Buddha statues were reduced to ashes and destroyed. In the 11th year of Emperor Kangxi in the Qing Dynasty (167 1), the Hall of the Great Hero, the Hall of Guanyin, the Hall of Dizang, the Hall of Pharmacists, the Hall of the Heavenly King, the second floor of the bell and drum, the dining hall for guests and the grinding house were rebuilt. It is huge and magnificent, with more than 80 acres of temple fields and 10 monks. Monks came forth in large numbers in the past dynasties, and monks gathered. The abbot of this temple has made three pilgrimage to the South China Sea on foot, and served as the back hall of Chengdu Wen Shu Academy. He died in Dabei Temple at the age of 95 and was cremated. His ashes were placed in a porcelain flower bed, engraved with the cross of "Authentic Golden Hall of Lin Ji in the Seventh Qing Dynasty", and buried in the Lingta of the Seven-level Lingta. During the Jiaqing period (about 1797), Dabei Temple was burned again. During Guangxu period (about 1880), Dabei Temple was rebuilt on a much smaller scale. Haishan, a contemporary monk (common name Ma, native of Xichong County), became a monk in Dabei Temple at the age of 65,438+05 (that is, 65,438+0944). At the age of 65,438+09, he was ordained to meditate in Wen Shu College, and at the age of 20, he was admitted to Chengdu Zhaojue Temple Buddhist College. During the "Cultural Revolution" in the 1960s, Dabei Temple, who was sent back to work in his hometown and was unwilling to become a monk since childhood, lived in a ruined temple for several months, religiously recited Buddhism and never forgot his ambition, and then returned to Zhaojue Temple. Currently, he is the vice president of Buddhist Association and concurrently the abbot of Wanfo Temple and guangde temple.
After the founding of New China, Dabei Temple was turned into a school. 1August, 1999, the religious policy was implemented and approved as an open temple. The school moved and the temple returned to the Buddha. Local believers funded the restoration of Daxiong Hall, and built Guanyin Hall, Buddha Hall and Keliao Dining Hall. Buy back the jade Buddha 1 1 statue and put it in the temple, and the ancient temple will be completely new. Local believers also presented the unearthed porcelain altar of abbot Shi Zhenqing's ashes to Dabei Temple. Shi Renming (common name Luo Shikui, a native of southern Nianya Township) has lived in this temple for a long time, and it is difficult to taste it. In April 2002, he was hired as the abbot of the temple.
