The history of Zu Dashou
Zu Dashou, a native of Liaodong, uncle of Wu Sangui, was an important military general in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties. He followed Yuan Chonghuan in many major battles, such as Ningyuan Defence War and Ningjin Victory. He showed great courage and made great contributions to the Ming Dynasty. In the third year of Chongzhen (1630), after Yuan Chonghuan was framed and killed, Zu Dashou 13 defended Ningyuan and Jinzhou Daling River and became the mainstay of the Ming Dynasty against the Qing army.

In the fourth year of Chongzhen (163 1), Zu Dashou was surrounded by the imperial army led by Huang Taiji in Daling River City. He stayed in this city for three months. When the army had no food and people were killing each other, he surrendered. Later, he fled back to his hometown in the name of Jinzhou's internal affairs, led the army to hold the Ningjin defense line 10, and finally surrendered again when Jinzhou fell. Huang taiji abandoned the past and appointed him as the commander-in-chief of the yellow flag of the Han army.

Why did Zu Taizu accept his surrender again and again?

Since 1623 (the third year of the Apocalypse), Yuan Chonghuan built a city in Ningyuan, and Zu Dashou followed him and won two victories in the defense of Ningyuan. 1629 (the second year of Chongzhen) In October of the lunar calendar, the late Jin army bypassed the Ningjin defense line from the direction of Jimen and fought at the foot of Beijing. At that time, the main force of the Ming army was stationed outside Shanhaiguan. Yuan Chonghuan hurriedly took Zu Dashou to save Beijing. It was in Beijing that Zu Dashou witnessed Yuan Chonghuan, who was loyal to his country, being wrongly imprisoned.

Finally, Yuan Chonghuan was executed in the year, and the whole family was exiled for 3,000 miles. As a general closely related to Yuan Chonghuan, he has the best understanding of Yuan Chonghuan's experience. Zu Dashou was born as a general. How could he die for such a court, such a grumpy emperor and such a dirty and incompetent minister? The reason why he stuck to the Ningjin defense line 10 years is the responsibility and blood of a border defense general.

Huang taiji was willing to accept two surrenders because he always had ambition in the world.

Yuan Chonghuan was unjustly killed in Beijing when he surrendered for the first time. Zu Dashou actually became the biggest obstacle of the Qing army's security line in Guanning in 400 miles, and was also the commander-in-chief of tens of thousands of Guanning cavalry. Huang taiji fought with him for 10 years. He knew that his military combat capability could not be compared with Kong Youde and others. At the same time, Huang Taiji, who was deeply influenced by China culture, admired his opponent's loyalty and hoped to use it for himself.

After the second capture of Songshan, troops from Jinzhou and other places successively conquered it. The next obstacles to be overcome are Ningyuan, which has suffered many setbacks, and Shanhaiguan, which is known as the first Xiongguan in the world. The generals stationed in Ningyuan and Shanhaiguan are Zu Dashou's nephew and Liaodong Governor Wu Sangui. Although Zu Dashou only wrote a few euphemistic letters to his nephew to persuade him to surrender, it was useless, but he still left, which was good for Zu Dashou and reserved the possibility of surrendering Wu Sangui.
