Since 1980s, China historical film and television dramas have sprung up, especially those with historical themes in the late Qing Dynasty. There are also many impressive works, such as burning Yuanmingyuan (1983), Qing artillery (1987), Tan Sitong (1984) and Sun Yat-sen (1986). The last emperor (1984), Hu Xueyan (1994), the Reform Movement of 1898 (1999), Dazhaimen (200 1) and the King of Qing Medicine in TV series. Judging from the narrative contents of these historical film and television dramas, the Opium War, the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, the Sino-French War, the Reform Movement of 1898, the Revolution of 1911 and other major historical events in the late Qing Dynasty were all involved, and related historical figures such as Cixi, Guangxu, Li Hongzhang, Kang Youwei, Liang Qichao and Sun Yat-sen were also the focus of the director's attention. Judging from the historical narration of these film and television dramas, this period presents some distinctive characteristics.
