The first prototype of F- 15 started test flight in July, 1972, and the first production flight in September, 1974, 10. The early F- 15 has two models, A is a single-seat model and B is a two-seat coach model. Subsequently, McDonnell Douglas improved the F- 15A/B, and launched the F- 15C/D model in June of 1979.
In order to make the F- 15 have the ability to attack the ground, McDonnell Douglas also developed the F- 15E ground attack fighter in the 1980s. By the end of 2004, the US Air Force had produced 355 F-/KOOC-0/5A, 57 F-/KOOC-0/5B, 408 F-/KOOC-0/5C, 6/KOOC-0/F-/5D and 226 F-/KOOC.
