What is the peony world?
Luoyang peony ranks first in the world.

Peony, one of the famous flowers in China, is known as the "Flower King" because of its huge volume, beautiful appearance and elegance. The root bark of peony is called peony in Chinese medicine, which is a good medicine for clearing away heat and removing blood stasis. Peony, originally a wild deciduous shrub, has been cultivated in China for about 1500 years.

Since the Tang Dynasty, Luoyang peony has flourished and spread all over the world with the reputation of "Luoyang peony is the best in the world". Ouyang, a poet in the Song Dynasty, once wrote a poem "Luoyang is the most suitable flower, and peony is wonderful in the world" to praise Luoyang peony. According to relevant historical records, there were more than 100 varieties of peony in Luoyang in Song Dynasty, among which there were many rare varieties. Among them, "Yao Huang" and "Wei Zi" were known as the "kings" and "queens" of peony, and they were especially loved by people.

At present, every time in Tomb-Sweeping Day and Grain Rain (that is, every year in late April), the peonies in the parks in Yuyang compete to fly: "Yao Huang" is golden, "Wei Zi" is brilliant, "Luoyang" is red and colorful, "Yan Rongzi" contains gold, "Er Qiao" is red and white, and "bean green" is as beautiful as jasper. Every April, Luoyang holds a grand peony flower show, which is watched by thousands of Chinese and foreign tourists. It is really "only peony is the true national color, and the capital moves when it blooms".

Peony is a famous traditional flower in China. Luoyang peony, with a wide variety and bright color, has been famous since ancient times and has the reputation of "Luoyang peony is the best in the world". From April 15 to 25th every year, the Luoyang Flower Expo, the Foreign Economic and Trade Fair and the Peony Lantern Festival will be held. By then, Chinese and foreign tourists will gather in Luoyang, and there will be a sea of people.

Legend has it that after the Tang Dynasty, Wu Zetian drank poems on a snowy day in the middle of winter. She took a drunken pen and wrote down the imperial edict, "I'll swim in the Ming Dynasty Garden to announce the coming of spring quickly, and the flowers must be delivered overnight, not blown by the breeze." Hundreds of flowers were overwhelmed by this fate and bloomed overnight, only peony could not resist. Wu Zetian was furious and demoted the peony to Luoyang. As soon as the strong and unyielding peony arrived in Luoyang, it was in full bloom with its head held high, which angered Wuhou even more and ordered the peony to be burned. Although the branches were burned, the peony bloomed more vigorously in the next spring.

During the Jingkang period, Jin Jun attacked Luoyang, the capital of the Northern Song Dynasty, and peony declined from then on. But since Luoyang Peony gained a good reputation, admirers from all over the world came to buy it, which made Luoyang Peony spread all over the country.

After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Luoyang attached great importance to the restoration and development of peony, organized landscape technicians to expand reproduction, established peony gardens and peony flower beds, and brought peony back to life. 1982 was officially named as the city flower, and decided to hold a peony flower party. Now the peony in Luoyang has grown from more than 30 varieties to hundreds.

Every year around Tomb-Sweeping Day, the Peony Festival kicks off, with hundreds of thousands of peony flowers competing to open, colorful and spectacular. Make Luoyang more colorful.
