First, according to Wei Jian, a professor of archaeology, the ancient sauna room was probably used as a public bathing place in the city. Because the ancient city of Dun in Tang Dynasty is located in the inland area of Eurasian grassland, the obvious characteristics of this area are hot and windy in summer and very cold in winter. Therefore, in this case, on the one hand, the function of public baths is to meet the daily cleaning function of urban residents, on the other hand, it can provide a place for tourists to rest and bathe. It can also be seen that there were saunas in ancient times.

Second, the layout of Gong * * * Bath From the archaeological investigation inside Gong * * * Bath, it can be found that the functional facilities of this bath are very perfect, with a special foyer area, work area and bathing area. The main building is a bathing area with a dressing room in the northeast corner and a dressing room in the southeast corner. Bathing area The hot water area is in the north, the cold water area is in the southwest, and the connected area may be the warm water area. The independent area in the northwest may be similar to the existence of sauna rooms or steam rooms. This bathing place was built in the first half century of the Tang Dynasty, and gradually abandoned in the14th century. In other words, this bathing place has experienced three stages: Tang, Song and Mengyuan. Although its architectural appearance has the characteristics of Rome, its interior decoration and unearthed cultural relics reflect the color of China.

Third, Xinjiang has a relatively large site scale and high building specifications. It has been used for a long time, during which it has undergone several repairs. Therefore, Wei Jian boldly speculated that this site was a public bathing place in the city, which was very in line with the domestic environment and needs at that time.
