Pseudosciaena crocea is a migratory fish in warm temperate coastal areas, mainly inhabiting the middle and lower layers of coastal and offshore waters, and it is the main economic fish in China's offshore waters.

Pseudosciaena crocea is very sensitive to the threat of sound and has the ability to make strong sounds. Especially in the breeding season, the male fish will make a "giggle" and "shout" sound, and the female fish will make a "hum" sound all day. When the fish is dense, the sound is like boiling water and loosening, which is rare in fish. Large yellow croaker grows fast.
