In the early years of Emperor Wudi's reign (about 202 BC), Zhangyu County (Ganjiang was originally named Zhangyuhe) was established, which governed Nanchang and 18 counties, namely Nanchang, Luling, Pengze, Poyang, Hanyu, Chaisang, Jiangxi, Xinxian, Cheng Nan, Yichun, Yidu and Du Yu. Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty designated the whole country as 13 monitoring area, which was called 13 county. At this time, Jiangxi belongs to Yangzhou Prefecture. In the first year of the founding of the People's Republic of China (AD 9), Zhang Yu County was renamed Jiujiang County. During the Eastern Han Dynasty, the Three Kingdoms, the Jin Dynasty and the Southern and Northern Dynasties, the county was named Zhang Yu and Nanchang. In the ninth year of Emperor Kai of Sui Dynasty (589), he set up a county in Hongzhou, which governed Nanchang County. In the first year of Tang Zhide (756), Zhang Yu County was renamed Zhang Jun County. During the Zhenguan period of the Tang Dynasty, Jiangnan Road was established in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. In 733 AD, Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty was divided into Jiangnan East Road and Jiangnan West Road. Jiangnan Dongdao evolved and is now Jiangsu and Anhui provinces; Jiangnan West Road continued the name of Jiangxi and gradually replaced "Zhang Yu" as the administrative name of Jiangxi.
