Song Translation of Shui Mu Tsinghua Pavilion
The Song version of Shui Mu Tsinghua Pavilion is translated as follows:

After three years of Shunzhi, when my filial piety expired, Zhou Jingchun said to me, "I have a garden in Baima Lake. I used to drink in Zhiting there. I will go there three times a year and stay there for more than ten days before I leave. Although simple and leisurely, I still feel close to the city. There are many passers-by, and it is always boring to hear about the secular life of the government and the neighborhood. In addition, they bought a hill beside the mountain and built a pavilion on it, more than 60 miles away from the city. It's not that relatives and friends won't entertain them.

No one has come to send famous stickers all the year round. The scenery here is beautiful and the vegetation is dense, which is ten times and one hundred times more beautiful than Baima Lake. "So I went to watch with him, lingering, and stayed in the pavilion at night. After he went to the north, he often missed the environment there, often dreamed about it and missed Zhou Jingchun very much.

Probably no one can go to the deep forest in person than logging and grazing. However, those who don't study, they don't know the way, they only know how to work with farm tools and climb mountains with calluses on their hands. Although they can climb the mountain every day, they only see its hard work. I once asked them, they only know that they were born in Shan Ye, but where do they know that we envy their inner satisfaction and foresight?

This truth is known only to scholar-officials, and some scholars can go to fertile fields and beautiful pools. Is it just you, but much less than you? If a famous scholar-bureaucrat is unwilling to rise and fall in the crowd, he will certainly inspire himself to become proud and strive for a little fame, which will surprise his family relatives and peers. If things don't stop, they won't go back to their hometown for ten or twenty years, let alone fertile fields and beautiful pools.

Otherwise, I will go to the village temporarily, ask the farmers to check the farming and harvesting situation, haggle over every ounce and cheat deliberately without rest, and return to the city by car early the next morning, losing the fun of enjoying myself. You don't care about fame and fortune, and you don't want to get entangled in secular human habits. When you hear people arguing about right and wrong, it's not far enough to avoid.

When I arrived in the mountains, I walked freely in the mountains wearing sandals and leaning on a wooden stick. When you meet a peasant Taoist, sit down and chat or simply prepare some wine and tea to entertain you. At this time, the cuteness and playability of the mountain forest are all shown in this way, and they are not abandoned by outsiders. If other literati can follow your example, where is the countryside unfamiliar? It's not that you monopolize this pleasure and don't give it to others. It's that others haven't caught up with you.

Although I know, I can't go back to enjoy it without fields. Now I have already gone back to the Cao Bureau to review the documents. I often have no time to eat. I went back at night, took off my coat and hat and fell asleep sadly. At this time, I thought that I was in Zhou Jingchun's pavilion, which was too far away to arrive. He is already a wise man, but he regrets that the woodcutter and the farmer who graze are sad in the field. When you asked me for the name of the pavilion, I agreed. Three years have passed, with no result.

Later, your son Ding Heng came to the capital and tried to persuade me. When Ding Heng came back, I remembered what I saw in the pavilion and named it "Shui Mu Tsinghua Pavilion". The mountain you bought is in the north of the county, not far away, walking in the field and jumping on the path in the field.

Just like walking along a mountain, it is actually a hill, which is getting flatter and flatter from bottom to top. A dozen small trees are tall and straight, beautiful and lovely. In front of the stream, it is four or five feet wide, and many seedlings have just sprouted in two parts of the stream. The stream is clear, the sand bay is clear, and the sound of water can be heard. Further on, the fields are winding.

About half of the pavilion is above the stream, with three pillars, all painted in black and white, spacious, neat and elegant. At the foot of the mountain on the right side of the pavilion, there are bamboo and jujube trees, so you should walk slowly inside. We arrived at a deep pool called "Longtan". According to the legend of the mountain people, a dragon once rose here, and a clump of shrubs was entangled wantonly, and the water was very clear. Whether it is rainy season or dry season, the water in the pool never increases or decreases. Behind the mountain, beside the boat, there is a panoramic view of mountains and rivers, and the tide is around the pavilion.

In March of Taiding four years, Dr. Chao Lie and Dr. Leeb recorded it in Song Ben.
