The history of closed meditation
In ancient times, Zen was to worship heaven and earth. Only those who started the world and commanded the whole country have such qualifications, such as Qin Shihuang, Qin Shihuang, Liu Bang, Li Shimin of the Tang Dynasty, Sui Wendi and so on. The unified feature of these emperors is to unify the north and the south and make the world stable, so they can practice Zen. In the Song Dynasty, Song Zhenzong didn't make such a contribution, but he also wanted to practice meditation and finally became a laughing stock. Therefore, after Song Zhenzong, no one practiced meditation.

First, the historical background of Zen. Ancient people could not explain many natural phenomena and were in awe of the gods of heaven and earth, so they held meditation. At the beginning of the founding of the People's Republic of China, in order to maintain the unified situation, Qin Shihuang began to retreat and meditate. The purpose is to worship the heavens and the earth and fear the gods, so as to express his awe of the storms of Sun Moon Mountain. On the other hand, it also shows that it is not easy for Qin Shihuang to unify the world. He wants to announce his achievements to the world so that the people can submit to him.

Second, the evolution of Zen. After Qin Shihuang initiated the practice of closed-door Zen, many founding emperors passed it down. On the one hand, it is awe of heaven and earth, but it is more about showing off its great achievements, so the meditation at this time is not exactly the same as Qin Shihuang's meditation. High yield has gone bad to some extent. However, as the founding monarch, closed-door Zen is understandable, but here in Song Zhenzong, it has lost its original meaning.

Third, the disappearance of meditation. By the time of Song Zhenzong, the meaning of Zen had completely changed. According to the previous management, the protagonist of Zen either created the world or led the people to prosperity, but Song Zhenzong did nothing, but insisted on Zen. Ministers all know Song Zhenzong's personality, and it's hard to say much, so the meditation went smoothly. But as we all know, Song Zhenzong's Zen Buddhism has become the biggest farce in history, and later generations all know Song Zhenzong's jokes, so they don't want to do this kind of farce any more.
