Sun Moon Mountain is located 40 kilometers southwest of Huangyuan County, Qinghai Province, belonging to the Qilian Mountains, with a total length of 90 kilometers and the highest elevation of 4,877 meters. The Sun Moon Mountain Pass, which the Qinghai-Tibet Highway passes through, is 3520 meters above sea level and is a natural dam in the east of Qinghai Lake. Sun Moon Mountain is not only of great historical significance, but also of great geographical significance. It is located on the dividing line between monsoon and non-monsoon areas in China, and in the overlapping area between the Loess Plateau and the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. It is the natural dividing line between the inner and outer basins of Qinghai Province, which divides farming civilization and nomadic civilization. The average altitude is about 4000 meters. In Tibetan, Sun Moon Mountain is called "Nimadawa" and in Mongolian it is called "Na Laasala", which means the sun and the moon.
