The Grand Buddha Temple in Guangzhou is modeled after the official temple in Shi Jing and has the local style of Lingnan. It has high cultural and artistic ornamental value. The Hall of Ursa Major faces south, with seven rooms wide and five rooms deep, with a building area of1.200m2, which is still the highest in Lingnan. The rest of the hilltops are covered with bamboo peony with plain tire boards, tile hooks, dripping water and gray tiles.
Although the Grand Buddha Temple in Guangzhou has been eroded by wind and rain for more than 300 years, its style still exists. High-quality wood donated by King Annan (present-day Vietnam) as a beam-column framework has been basically intact so far. In addition, there are large and small halls such as Toumen, Bell Tower, Drum Tower, Tianwang Hall, Gallery, Ji Xiang Kitchen, etc. The houses are clean and simple, magnificent and solemn. In the 11th year of Yongzheng (1733), Liu Shu, the magistrate of Guangzhou, received an imperial edict from the emperor to the whole country, and decided to choose the Great Buddha Temple as the location of the proclamation and build a pavilion in front of the temple. At the same time, Wei Tuo Hall, Jialan Hall, "Buddhist Kingdom" and "Zen Forest" were also built on both sides of the main hall of Guangzhou Giant Buddha Temple. At this time, the scope of the temple expanded, Buddhism flourished and its reputation spread far and wide, becoming one of the five jungles after the recovery.
The founder of Guangzhou Giant Buddha Temple is a real master (monk level). The abbot of the Great Buddha Temple also came to a famous monk: movie master, a famous poet with eight fingers and a master monk Yuexi.
Guangzhou Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government approved the reopening of Guangzhou Giant Buddha Temple. But the temple was still occupied by the second street factory. The Municipal People's Congress and CPPCC have organized inspections individually or jointly for many times to help the streets find a way out of relocation and urge the temples to return the monks. To 198 1, Daxiong Hall belongs to the Buddhist Association. Master Guangming, vice president of the Buddhist Association, became the abbot. In July of the same year, he opened on 12 and began to rebuild. After four years' efforts, the Daxiong Hall of Guangzhou Giant Buddha Temple has been restored as before, and three bronze Buddha statues have been recast as before (each statue is 6 meters high and weighs 10 ton). Then rebuild the mountain gate, the Heavenly King Hall, the Dizang Hall, the Tibetan Scripture Pavilion, the monastery, the sitting room, the Ji Xiang kitchen and the abbot room. More and more tourists and pilgrims from home and abroad come to worship Buddha.
On August 9th, 1993, the Guangzhou Municipal Government announced the Guangzhou Giant Buddha Temple as a municipal cultural relics protection unit.
