After the failure of Tucheng Campaign in the Long March, Mao Zedong conscientiously summed up the lessons and personally directed the most proud Sidu Chishui Action in his life. He decided to give up meeting Zhang Huishi, move eastward, then cross Chishui and return to Guizhou to attack the Qian army.
After the Red Army violently attacked the Red Army Dulchishui along Panshan Road, it captured Loushanguan on February 25, took control of this Xiongguan, and made the large troops pass smoothly. Subsequently, the Red Army stormed the pass along Panshan Road and fought fiercely with the enemy on the ridge of Diandeng Mountain. After repeated struggles, we finally occupied the highland of Diandeng Mountain and firmly controlled the pass. At this time, it was near dusk, and the Red Army quickly passed through Loushanguan in the sunset. Defeat the enemy of Loushanguan on February 26th, and defeat three enemy regiments in the north of Zunyi on February 27th. On the 28th, the Red Army pursued the victory and captured Zunyi again. This campaign was the first great victory after Zunyi Conference and the most important strategic turning point on the Long March.
On February 28th, Mao Zedong boarded the Loushanguan with the column of the Military Commission. He looked around and wrote the word happily. Because of the significance of the battle, the poet was very excited and wrote this poem shortly after the battle.
