The Historical Origin of Wuxue Crisp Sugar
Wuxue crisp candy is a local traditional product. Wuxue City, formerly known as Guangji County, has a long history. According to legend, during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, there was a dutiful son named Dong at Guihua Bridge in Wuxue Town, who lived with his mother. One day in autumn, my mother occasionally felt cold and bedridden. Because his family is poor, he has no money to treat diseases and take medicine. He fried his sesame seeds and ground them into powder. He shook off the fresh osmanthus in the hospital, soaked it in sucrose, mixed it with sesame powder and brought it to the hospital bed. After eating for several days, my mother recovered from her cough, her eyes were clear and her heart was relaxed, just like a dead tree meets spring, so it was passed down as a much-told story. At that time, people called it "sweet osmanthus candy", "cough relieving essence" and "filial piety". After workshop processing, the famous pastry teachers in the past dynasties continued to improve, and it was named crisp sugar in the eighth year of Daoguang in Qing Dynasty. This is a brief history of Wuxue Crispy Sugar. With this beautiful legend, Wuxue Crispy Sugar has a long-standing reputation in Wutou Chuwei and the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, and is widely popular.
