The origin and history of the village are as follows:

"Lotus Pond" is a poetic name. Xiao Deshun, a villager, told reporters according to genealogical data that its name comes from the sweetness of lotus root. Lotus pond is located in the southwest of the Pearl River Delta. Most of the land is alluvial soil. This has always been a good place to grow lotus roots. Lotus root sells well in Hong Kong, Macau and Southeast Asia. Lotus root in lotus pond is named "Lotus pond".

In the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China, a natural village was formed here. The villagers began to build brick houses and went out to South Asia to work as Chinese laborers. When the economic conditions were good, they sent money back to their hometown to build green brick houses. Basically settled in five natural villages: Luowan Village, Beiwan Village, Shenshuiwan Village, Yinbian Village and Qianxin Village. During the Republic of China, these five natural villages were named Lianzitang Village.
