The surrounding rocks of ore bodies are silicified clastic rocks and siliceous rocks, and the boundary between them is clear. Silicification is the most common wall rock alteration, followed by kaolin and pyrophyllite.
The genesis of the deposit is related to the adjacent Yaocun granite body in the late Yanshan period and its derived granodiorite porphyry series.
Before the founding of New China, there was no geological survey here, and only two ancient excavations were found in front of Baiyun Temple at the top of Baiyun Mountain 100 meters, which indicated that fluorite may have been discovered by predecessors, but the specific situation could not be verified.
After the founding of New China, with the development of 1958 steel, the demand for mineral raw materials related to the development of steel is increasingly tight, which promotes the rise of national prospecting, mining and private geology. 1September, 958, Shanghai Baimaoling Farm discovered fluorite in Baiyun Mountain and immediately carried out open-pit mining. In the second half of the same year, Li Lai, the third geological team of Wuhu Geological Branch of the Provincial Geological Bureau, made an iron ore survey here and found fluorite, but the work was not done. During 1959, the geological team of Guangde County sent staff to investigate fluorite, and fluorite fragments and mineralization were found on the surface of Huangniu Mountain. Then, fluorite veins were discovered through trench exposure, the existence of the deposit was initially determined, and the ore quantity was estimated. Baimaoling fluorite mine was first mined by Shanghai Baimaoling Farm in September, 1958.
