Anning City is a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Kunming City, Yunnan Province, located 32 kilometers southwest of Kunming City. It is a transportation center leading to eight states in western Yunnan, and is directly connected with Myanmar through Wanding. It is connected with Xishan District in the northeast, Jinning District in the southeast and Yimen and Lufeng County in the west, with a total area of 130 1.8 1 square kilometer and an average elevation of 1800 meters.
Anning is located in the western edge of the first-order structure of the Yangtze quasi-geosyncline and belongs to the middle-south section of the second-order structural belt of the Kangdian axis. The tertiary structure from Wuding to Yimen River bottom in the west is an integral part of the tertiary structural belt in Kunming. The exposed strata are mica flakes, limestone, dolomite and sandstone of Mesoproterozoic Kunyang Group, which are distributed from Wangjiatan to Heifeng Tunnel, Baiyidian in Lu Yi, Zhengjiagou, Yilongdong and Xiaoying in Liuyi Township.

The historical evolution of Anning city;
In the second year of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty (BC 109), Li Anran County was established in the Western Han Dynasty, and a salt official was established here. In the first year of Tang Wude (6 18), A Ning, a native of Dongchuan, drove the cattle out of the salt well, and changed Li Anran County to Amber Pingfu, close to Anyin, and restored peace. In the fourth year of Tang Wude (AD 62 1), it was called Anning County.
In the 12th year of Yuan Dynasty (A.D. 1275), it was called Anning County. 2 years (AD 19 13), renamed Anning County. April 20 1950 Anning County People's Government was established. 1956 10, Anning County was changed to Anning District of Kunming City. 1September, 959, renamed Anning county.
