Du has lived in Shanghai since he developed.
After Du developed, he had two houses in Shanghai.

(1) 66 Wagner Nickel Road. (No.66 Ninghai West Road, now demolished)

No.70 Dumei Road. (No.70 Donghu Road, now Donghu Hotel)

At that time, Du had two residences in Shanghai, one at Donghu Road, which is today's Donghu Hotel, known as "Du Mansion"-however, Du himself never lived in it for a day; I have been living in a mansion on Ninghai West Road, and I am called "Dujia Old House". In the early 1930s, the Kuomintang government vigorously developed the aviation industry and issued aviation lottery tickets to the whole country under the condition of insufficient funds. Du used the disclosed information to help "group friends" underwrite aviation lottery tickets and make a fortune. Kim's Grateful Pictorial cost more than 300,000 dollars. 1934, he built this magnificent garden house on Donghu Road (then called Road) and gave it to Du.

The combination of Chinese and western styles in the mansion not only shows the comfortable and elegant villa architectural features in France, but also shows the quadrangle architectural style in the south of China, which coincides with Du Ai's identity of wearing a gown. Du has made such an arrangement: the living room on the ground floor can hold 50 tables of banquets, which are usually used to receive visitors. The east wing is the accounting room, the west wing is the main dining room, the second floor belongs to the second lady, the third floor belongs to the first lady, a small villa in the west belongs to the third lady, and a small villa in the east belongs to the fourth lady Yao Yulan.

The mansion was designed by Jian 'an Surveying and Mapping Company and constructed by New BenQ Building Factory. The south facade of the main building in the middle of the building is symmetrical left and right, which is a classical composition. * * * Five bays, with a concave balcony in the middle three bays, hexagonal protrusions on both sides, and geometric decorative patterns under simple square windows. There is a cornice on the roof, which is supported by beams. The wall between the windows on the same floor of the annex buildings on both sides is light brown Taishan top brick, and the wall between the upper and lower windows is decorated with water brush stone. The whole building is simple in shape, appropriate in proportion and expressive.

Just as Du was preparing to move in, it coincided with the outbreak of the "August 13th" war, and Du's new house never lived for a day. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, this house was occupied by Kuomintang troops. Later, Du simply sold it to the US Information Office for $600,000, and later used it as an American consulate, but he lived in Hua Mao apartment on Maoming South Road. On the eve of liberation, Mr. Du left the mainland with his family and died in Hong Kong. After liberation, the residence was converted into Shanghai East Lake Hotel.

As for Du Ancestral Hall, it is not a "cultural relic" at all, and Du has never lived in it.
