Zhang Ruigui's Anti-Japanese Movement in Northern Guangdong
When War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression broke out, Chen failed against Chiang Kai-shek. Chiang Kai-shek incorporated the Guangdong Army and appointed Zhang Ruigui as the commander of the 63rd Army. Before leading his troops against Japan, Zhang telegraphed Chen, who was studying in Germany, asking him to return to China to raise his children. After Chen returned to China, Sui moved to Guilin, Guangxi, with 65,438+00 children (three of whom were born in), and then came to Hong Kong. Wei Xiuying returned to Guitai Township, his hometown in the hundreds of mountains.

Zhang Ruigui's resistance to Japan was mainly in the "three major battles in northern Guangdong". /kloc-in the autumn of 0/938, the Japanese army forcibly landed in Aotou, Danshui and other places in Guangdong, and Zhang led the 63rd Army to meet the enemy in the garrison. In the end, it was defeated because there were no reinforcements. After the fall of Guangzhou, Yu Hanmou, commander-in-chief of the Twelfth Army, ordered the troops to move to northern Guangdong. The 63rd Army built fortifications in Zengcheng and Conghua and confronted the enemy. /kloc-in the winter of 0/939, the Japanese army invaded northern Guangdong in an all-round way, and the 63rd Army fought against the enemy from Conghua to Xinfeng, sometimes in front of the enemy and sometimes behind the enemy lines. Zhang Ruigui ordered 153 Division to attack the enemy from the back and abdomen in Xinfeng Yangshao, Jiangweitou and Puchang. The 12th Army reinforced a division in the Central Committee to cooperate and launched a full-scale fierce battle. When the enemy was exhausted, Yu Hanmou ordered all the troops to kill separately. When Zhang Ruigui led the 459th regiment under the jurisdiction of 153 Division to catch up with Lapu and Zengdong in Zengcheng, he ordered the regiment to cooperate with the 100-member broadsword team organized by the masses to rush into the enemy camp while the enemy was sleeping, killing many Japanese troops, but it was also a heavy loss when breaking through. This is the "First Battle of Northern Guangdong".

/kloc-in the summer of 0/940, the Japanese army invaded the north again. The main force advances northward along Conghua and Xinfeng highways. Zhang Ruigui ordered 152 and 153 divisions to open the highlands such as Pomegranate Flower Top, Wuzhishan, Shangjiangdong and Huangniushan in Liangkou area and reach the enemy directly. 186 division assembled on the back of cattle, and the fighting was fierce, with heavy losses on both sides. Huangniushan was captured twice by the enemy and finally recovered by our army. During the battle, it rained for days, and the enemy plane could not be put into battle. As the water level of Conghua River rose, the enemy used planes and ships to pull reinforcements in order to invade the north. Zhang Ji ordered the artillery battalion to concentrate on fire bombardment, and the enemy ship was shot and sank, and many enemy soldiers drowned. Under the suppression of our firepower, all the enemy troops retreated, which was the "second battle in northern Guangdong". The third battle in northern Guangdong began in the winter of 1944. At that time, the intelligence report of the seventh theater: "The enemy tried to open the Guangdong-Han line, concentrated its main force between Hunan and Jiangxi, and advanced southward." The situation is urgent. The 63rd Army was on standby in Xinfeng, and soon Shaoguan, the capital of Guangdong Province, fell in the war. Zhang led the 63 rd Army to set out day and night, and led the 459 th Regiment to enter Donghu Ping and Matoudong in the south of Shixing County, where they met the enemy. Zhang adopted a position-based deployment and distributed his troops in mountainous areas, extending from Shixing and Nanxiong to Nanpu on the Jiangxi side, crushing the enemy's front. The enemy was trapped in the mountains and could not move forward. The 12th Army fought with two other troops near Shaoguan, and the enemy was exhausted and defeated.

During the eight-year Anti-Japanese War, Zhang Ruigui galloped on the battlefield and was fearless in the face of danger. He defeated the Japanese army and made many achievements, but there were still some shortcomings. /kloc-in the winter of 0/940, the assessment comment given to Zhang Ruigui by Chongqing Military Commission was: "There are more heroes than short-sightedness".
