According to the Records of Sihong County, during the Spring and Autumn Period, Guan Zhong and Bao went into business in partnership in Guzhou (now Sihong County). One day, when they were walking on a dirt road in the country, they suddenly saw a snake coming towards them. At this moment, a farmer happened to pass by and cut it in two with a hoe. Unexpectedly, the snake turned into two gold bars of different lengths. The farmers thought it was a godsend and suggested that they accept it. However, Guan Bao and his wife both said, "The godsend is here and the local villagers should receive it." They immediately distributed the money to two local villages, namely Guan Zhen and Baoji. Later generations appreciated Guan Zhong and Bao's spirit of sharing gold. In the Ming Dynasty, they built the "Guan Bao Sharing Gold Pavilion" and set up a stone tablet of "Guan Bao Sharing Gold" in front of the pavilion. The deep friendship between Guan Zhong and Bao has become a much-told story handed down from generation to generation in China.
