Introduction of scenic spots
Wu Kang Road is located in Xuhui District, formerly known as John Calvin Ferguson Road, named after American missionary John John Calvin Ferguson. It was built by Shanghai French Concession Bureau on 1907 (Guangxu thirty-three years). Wu Kang Road connects the busy Huaihai Middle Road and the quiet Huashan Road in the north and south. It is a "famous historical and cultural street in China" with 37 historical buildings. Among them, 14 excellent historical buildings are worthy of the name "celebrity road".
Strolling along this century-old road, the ancient trees on both sides are lush, and European-style buildings scattered on the roadside can be seen from time to time. Wu Kang Tower is the landmark building of Wu Kang Road, which was designed by the famous Hungarian architect Hudac. The red brick walls, corner balconies and triangular classical window lintels of the building have quite the charm of the French Renaissance. The shape of Wukang Building is like a huge ship waiting to set sail, so it is not difficult to understand the origin of its old name "Normandy Apartment". Wu Yin, Zheng, Zhao Dan and other film artists once lived here, and their daughter, Miss Kong Er, is the biggest owner here.
The former residences of celebrities are one after another, which is a major feature of Wu Kang Road. 1 13 is the former residence of Ba Jin, a great literary master. The quiet and warm former residence is the last and longest place where Ba Jin lived in Shanghai. No.393 Country Garden in England is the former residence of Huang Xing, a revolutionary pioneer in the Republic of China. Sun Yat-sen has stayed here many times to discuss major issues. Hunan Villa at the intersection of Wu Kang Road and Hunan is Zhou Fohai's private residence, where Chen Yi and Deng Xiaoping stayed after liberation. Lane 40 1 is the former residence of Tang, a Spanish-style detached garden house, full of retro flavor. ......
In addition to the former residence of celebrities, there are other old houses with characteristics here. SAIC's office building at No.390 has a small Mediterranean-style house with a red roof and white walls, which is different from other old houses. No.99 is Zhengguanghe old house. The spire of this independent villa stands tall, and it looks noble and mysterious under the background of white high walls and green branches. The film Lust, Caution was filmed here.
It may take a day to savor past lives on Wu Kang Road. There are also many coffee shops and restaurants where you can rest. There are three old bungalows on the outskirts of 376 Ferguson Lane. Among the flowers, there is a very popular restaurant called CoffeeTree. Ordering a vegetable panini with a cup of fragrant coffee is very satisfying. The Farine Cafe at No.378 is filled with simple French country flavor, and the horn here is known as "the first in Shanghai".
