The history of Pingyang dialect
Historical origin and distribution area:

Mainly distributed in the areas below the Yangtze River, Pingyang County and Cangnan County in Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province and their surrounding areas. Among them, Pingyang Chengguan is the most authentic, and it also retains many traces of early Chinese in vocabulary. It is a living material for experts to study early Chinese and has important historical value. The formation of Pingyang dialect is closely related to the migration of Han people from the Central Plains to Fujian in history. The first large-scale migration of Han people from the Central Plains to Fujian took place after the Yongjia Rebellion at the end of the Western Jin Dynasty. There is a record in the history books that "Yongjia Rebellion, dressing in clothes, and crossing the south like eight families in Fujian". With the passage of time, due to the barrier of mountains, there is less and less communication with the outside world. Pingyang dialect with local characteristics has gradually formed.
