The Historical Evolution of Chonggang Town
According to legend, there used to be a pavilion where the township government was located. Because it is located on the main road from this county to Jinxi county, the number of shops has increased year by year. By the Jingtai period of the Ming Dynasty, it had become a street market. The hills around the market overlapped and looked like a phoenix, just like "Phoenix worships the hillock", and there was a stone tablet to commemorate it. So people took the first and last words on the stone tablet and named this place "Fenggang". Qing belongs to nine capitals.

During the Republic of China, it was divided into Fenggang and Changgang Township, belonging to five districts and six districts.

After the founding of New China, there are 6 towns and villages, namely Fenggang, Shangdeng, Xianxi, Yuanxi, Changgang and Shaofang, which belong to 13 districts (Fenggang District).

1956 merged into Fenggang, Pinqiao and Changgang townships;

1958 merged to form Fenggang commune;

1968 changgang merged into Feng Chong commune.

1984 changed to Chonggang Township.
