Liu Xiahui is one of the earliest historical celebrities of Xintai recorded in history. His date of birth and death cannot be verified in detail now. According to historical records such as Zuo Zhuan and Guoyu, his main activity was during the reign of Lu Xigong (659-627 BC). Because Liu Xia, a food city, got married after her death, later generations called it "Liu Xiahui". He is famous for paying attention to etiquette, credibility and being cautious and independent. In particular, the story of "sit-in" is passed down as a much-told story and is regarded as a moral model.
Confucius divided people into five categories: saints, sages, gentlemen, scholars and mediocrities, and classified Liu Xiahui as a "saint". Confucius mentioned to Zi Gong during his trip to the sage: "Be filial, allow virtue and seek justice, make an appointment to complain, ignore wealth and lack of money, and build a trip to Liu Xiahui." In a short comment of more than ten words, Confucius endowed Liu Xiahui with many moral qualities, such as filial piety, courtesy, kindness, benevolence, and attaching importance to interests.
Liu Xiahui's thoughts and qualities.
In the Spring and Autumn Period, Liu Xiahui's thought of "harmony" played a certain role in solving and dealing with the contradictions and problems arising from social changes at that time. Confucius inherited Liu Xiahui's thought of "harmony" and Liu Xiahui's thought of "benevolence", and put forward "the benevolent loves others", and extended it to "benevolence for the people" and "things that love others". Liu Xiahui's role in the formation of Confucianism has become a moral model for China intellectuals for thousands of years.
Confucius' admiration for Liu Xiahui also attracted Zhuangzi's ridicule: he compared Liu Xiahui and Confucius in different times to friends and thought that the thief was Liu Xiahui's younger brother, so as to satirize the "benevolent government" advertised by Confucianism. Because stealing love "takes women", North China thinks that stealing is the patron saint of prostitutes and respects it as "the god with white eyebrows". "From the Spring and Autumn Period to today, every prostitute's family is respected and worshipped like their ancestors," said Shen Dao with bridled eyebrows.
