The following are compulsory subjects for grades 9- 12 in American high schools.
Grade 9: English (1), algebra (1), history of world civilization, earth science, foreign languages, physical education, computer and an elective subject.
10: English (grammar and writing), geometry, biology, world culture and geography, physical education and one or two elective subjects.
Grade 1 1: American literature, algebra (2), chemistry, American history, humanities, sports science and two elective subjects.

Visual arts (painting, sculpture, photography, etc. );
Performance art (vocal music, drama performance, dance, film and television performance, etc.). );
Vocational courses (carpentry, metalworking, auto repair, etc.). );
Computer/business courses (word processing, programming, image design, web design, etc. );
Sports (American football, baseball, basketball, tennis, track and field, swimming, water polo, etc. );
News/publishing (school newspaper, calendar, TV production, etc. );
Foreign languages (generally French, German, Spanish, etc. );
Family and consumer science
