1, Yuan Longping

Yuan Longping devoted himself to the research, application and popularization of hybrid rice technology, invented "three-line method" indica hybrid rice, successfully developed "two-line method" hybrid rice, and established the technical system of super hybrid rice. From 1964 to 1965, Yuan Longping and his research team conducted cross-breeding experiments in rice fields, and then found 6 plants with natural male sterility in rice fields.

After observation and experiment in spring and autumn, the article "Male Sterility of Rice" was published in Science Bulletin, and the research of hybrid breeding began. Not only has it solved the problem of eating in China to a great extent, but it is also considered as a magic weapon to solve the world hunger problem in the next century. Internationally, hybrid rice is even regarded as the fifth great invention of China after the four great inventions, which is called the second green revolution.

2. Deng Jiaxian

1950 In August, on the ninth day after receiving his doctorate in the United States, Deng Jiaxian declined to be retained by his tutor and friends at the same school, and resolutely decided to return to China and embrace the motherland. In June of the same year, Deng Jiaxian came to the Institute of Modern Physics of Chinese Academy of Sciences as a researcher. In the following eight years, he studied China's nuclear theory.

During the 28 years from 1958 to 1986, Deng Jiaxian devoted itself to the research and development of "two bombs" and achieved great success. For the first time, the atomic bomb independently developed by China was successfully developed, but it also sacrificed precious lives.

During these years of work, even his family didn't know his work. It was not until June 1986 that major media disclosed Deng Jiaxian and his team that they realized how much he had contributed to the country.

3. Qian Xuesen

Qian Xuesen, a world-famous scientist and aerodynamicist, was the founder of manned space flight in China, an academician of China Academy of Sciences and China Academy of Engineering, and a winner of the China Medal of Meritorious Service with Two Bombs and One Satellite. He was known as "the father of China's space flight", "the father of Chinese missiles", "the father of China's automatic control" and "the king of rockets". Due to Qian Xuesen's return to China, China's missiles and atomic bombs were launched at least 20 years earlier.

4. Tu Youyou

Tu Youyou, lifelong researcher and chief researcher of Chinese Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine, director of artemisinin research and development center, doctoral tutor and pharmacist, was the first Nobel Prize winner in medicine in China. Artemisinin discovered by Professor Tu Youyou has saved the lives of millions of malaria patients around the world.

5. Liu Xiang

Liu Xiang is the first athlete in the history of sports track and field in China, and also in the history of Asian track and field. He has won many honors, including Olympic champion, indoor and outdoor world championship champion, IAAF Grand Prix final champion and world record holder.

He was awarded the honorary titles of "Person of the Year Who Moved China in 2004", "Top Ten Outstanding Young People in China", 201CCTV Sports Person of the Year Award, China Sports Broadcasting Outstanding Contribution Award and "May 1 Labor Medal".
