What is the reason why Chengdu is called the land of abundance?
Chengdu Plain has become a land of abundance.

-In 256 BC, Li Bingxiu Dujiangyan Dujiangyan was located in the middle of Sichuan Province, in the middle reaches of the Minjiang River, near guanxian, Sichuan Province. It is a comprehensive large-scale water conservancy project combining irrigation with flood control. Located in the beautiful and rich Chengdu Plain, it has a history of more than two thousand years. The designer and organizer of this ancient project is Li Bing, an outstanding water conservancy engineer in the Warring States Period.

Minjiang River originates from Minshan Mountain in the north of Chengdu Plain. The mountains on both sides of the river are high and deep, and the water is fast. The Minjiang River flows into Ma Pingchuan near guanxian, and the water potential is huge, and it often breaks its banks and overflows. A large amount of sediment carried by the upstream is also easy to deposit here, raising the riverbed and aggravating the flood. Especially in the southwest of guanxian, there is a Leiyu Mountain that blocks the river from flowing eastward. Every summer and autumn flood season, the river in the west is often flooded, but in the east it is often dry. Therefore, conquering the Minjiang River and turning floods into water conservancy became the urgent desire of people at that time.

In the fifty-first year of King Qin Zhao (256 BC), Li Bing was appointed Shu Shou. He saw with his own eyes the sufferings caused by floods and droughts, heard the strong voice of the people, and felt that to make the country rich and strong, it was necessary to solve the sufferings of the people and develop production. To this end, Li Bing decided to govern the Minjiang River. Shortly after he took office, he began to carry out large-scale water control work.
