History of Xugezhuang Station
On the railway line from Tianjin to Shanhaiguan, there is an inconspicuous small station-Xugezhuang Station. Every time I come here, I will bring back a lot of thoughts.

At the end of the Qing Dynasty, the Westernization School founded Kaiping Coal Mine (the predecessor of Kailuan Coal Mine), and in 188 1 year, it completed the full-length 10 km railway from Tangshan No.1 coal well to Xugezhuang, which was known as Tangxu Coal Transportation Railway. The following year, Tangshan Station was completed, and the railway began to run passenger transport. Therefore, Xugezhuang Station enjoys the reputation of the longest operating railway station in China, with a history of 127 years.

At the beginning, Xugezhuang Station was connected with the wharf of Coal River (an artificial canal for transporting coal). After being transshipped at this station, Tangshan raw coal is transported to Tianjin and other places by water, so Xugezhuang Station is also the earliest railway and waterway freight transfer station in China. 1883, Tangshan produced more than 75,000 tons of coal. Domestic raw coal has replaced imported coal and occupied Tianjin market. This small railway station has attracted the attention of the whole world. On June 27th, 1937, the article "Good News" praised: "Fully loaded with coal cars heading for Tianjin ... Xugezhuang is one of the most interesting places in China at present."
