Yantai is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Shandong Province, located in the east of China, northeast of Shandong Peninsula, bordering Weihai in the east, Weifang and Qingdao in the west, the Yellow Sea in the south and Bohai Sea in the north, facing Liaodong Peninsula and Dalian in Liaoning across the sea, with a coastline of 909 kilometers and 63 islands. The city has five districts and six county-level cities. Total area 13864.5 km2.
Yantai is named after Yantai Mountain in China. Yantai belongs to temperate monsoon climate, with moderate rainfall, moist air and mild climate, with no severe cold in winter and no heat in summer.

The seventh census shows that among the permanent residents, there are 1 176928 with college education, 127065438 with high school education, 2840504 with junior high school education and 1 365438 with primary school education.
Compared with the sixth national census in 20 10, the number of people with college education per 10 million population increased from 9929 to 16572, and the number of people with high school education increased from 17845 to 17885, and those with junior high school education.
