It consists of a wide alley, a narrow alley and a well alley arranged in parallel, all of which are antique quadrangles made of indigo bricks. In the early years of the Republic of China, the city managers at that time changed "Hutong" to "Hutong". In 1980s, Kuanzhai Lane was included in the protection plan of Chengdu's famous historical and cultural city. In 2003, Kuanzhai Lane block officially appeared in the world dictionary.

Kuanzhai Lane is a national AA-level tourist attraction, and has won the titles of "China Characteristic Commercial Pedestrian Street", Sichuan Famous Historical and Cultural Street, 201/Chengdu New Ten Scenes, Sichuan Top Ten Most Beautiful Streets and so on in 2009.

Architectural composition

In the fifty-seventh year of Kangxi (17 18), after putting down the Zhungeer rebellion, more than one thousand soldiers were chosen to stay in Chengdu and build a small city. Today's Kuanzhai Lane is the legacy of a small city. Kuanzhai Lane has more than 70 courtyards and more than 300 rooms. Now the old city wall and Jinshui River are gone.

Kuanzhai Lane consists of three parallel old streets and quadrangles, namely, wide alley, narrow alley and Jingxiang alley. It is one of the three major historical and cultural protection zones in Chengdu, the last vestige of the urban pattern of "a thousand-year-old little city" and the century-old original architectural pattern in old Chengdu, and the "orphan" of the northern hutong culture and the southern architectural style.

This Qing dynasty block recorded the vicissitudes of old Chengdu, and its architectural style has the characteristics of both western Sichuan folk houses and northern quadrangles. Kuanzhai Lane covers an area of 479 mu, with the core protected area 108 mu.
