What are the historical sites in Shenzhen? Places of interest in Shenzhen include Dapeng Fortress, Chiwan Ancient Fort and Jinlong Stone Pagoda. Shenzhen is located in South China, South Guangdong and the east bank of the Pearl River Estuary, bordering Daya Bay and Mirs Bay in the east, the Pearl River Estuary and Lingdingyang in the west and Hong Kong across the Shenzhen River in the south. It is one of the four central cities in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The earliest predecessor of Shenzhen was Baoan County, Guangzhou. The place name "Shenzhen" first appeared in the historical records of 14 10, which was built in the early Qing Dynasty. The local dialect usually calls the ridge ditch "town" or "surge". Shenzhen is named for its dense Shui Ze and deep ditch beside the village.

Although the development history of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone is only over 40 years, it has a history of more than 6,700 years of human activities, 6,000 years of human development and marine economy, 1700 years of urban history, 600 years of coastal defense history, and a long history of Guangfu people and Hakka immigrants. Historically, Baoan County (Xin 'an County), the predecessor of Shenzhen, has four ethnic groups: Hakka, Guangfu, Fulao and Yi, among which Hakka is the majority.

Dapeng Fort, an ancient site in Shenzhen

Dapeng Suocheng, located in Pengcheng Village, Dapeng Town, Dapeng New District, Longgang, East Shenzhen, covers an area of about 1 10000 square meters, and was founded in the 27th year of Ming Hongwu (A.D. 1394). It was a coastal defense military fortress in southern China during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It had a history of resisting foreign aggression for more than 600 years, and a number of outstanding national heroes such as Lai Enjue, Lai Xinyang, Lai, Liu Qilong and Liu Heizai emerged.

Chiwan ancient fort

Chiwan ancient fort is located at the top of Shekou Peninsula, which is "the mountain ridge near the sea is in danger on three sides". The east and west sides of Chiwan Port are sandwiched and face the sea.

The repaired left battery stands on the top of the eagle mouth. The base of Fort City is made of large granite, with a total height of about 3 meters. In the north is the entrance of Fort City, and there are two houses left in the east and west compartments, which were the homes of the soldiers who guarded Fort in those days. The high platform in the south is about 8 meters wide and is used by artillery positions.

Jinlong stone pagoda

Jinlong Stone Pagoda is located by the river in Shasi Old Village, Shajing Town, Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province. It is made of coarse sandstone and is called the Flower Pagoda by the locals. Jinlong stone pagoda is a feng shui pagoda used by ancient people to calm the water surface. The whole tower is not high, with a single square tower body, a square bamboo corner column under it and a steeple top on it.

The front of the tower is a half-length embossed Buddha statue. Images of folded hands, sword fighting to exorcise demons, Buddha spells and so on are engraved on both sides, and the words "Jiading Chen Geng Li Shi" are engraved on the back. It can be seen that the tower was built in the 13th year of Jiading in the Southern Song Dynasty, namely 1220, 785 years ago, and it is the earliest existing ground building in Shenzhen.
