History of Jade Street in Pingzhou
In the mid-1970s, Pingzhou Pingdong Duntou Jade Processing Factory, founded by three brothers, Chen Guang, Chen Zuorong and Chen Ruinan, undertook the jade outsourcing processing business of the Provincial Arts and Crafts Import and Export Corporation, mainly processing bare parts. Thanks to the good management of Mr. Chen Ruinan and the hard work of the workers in the jade factory, Duntou Jade Factory has the best processing technology and the best quality among several outsourcing processing points of the provincial arts and crafts import and export company, and its business volume has been increasing, which has earned considerable processing fees for the collective and trained a large number of technical talents in jade design, processing and production.

After the reform and opening up, self-employed individuals in Pingzhou have sprung up like mushrooms after rain. Skilled workers in Duntou Jade Factory, as well as jade workers and craftsmen scattered all over Pingzhou, raised their own funds to buy Burmese jade from Tengchong, Yingjiang, Zhangfeng, Ruili and Wancheng in Yunnan's border areas with China, and made family workshops to produce jade products. Because Pingzhouyu colleagues are good at making bare parts, not only the quality is good, the technology is good, but also the price is low, and they soon became famous at home and abroad, especially in the jade industry in Southeast Asia. Jade merchants from all over the country directly went to Duntou Village, Pingdong, Pingzhou to purchase jade articles, and the Pingzhou jade article market was thus formed. The Pingzhou jade market, which was formed in the mid-1980s, has grown to more than 1 100 million yuan by the mid-1990s.
