Panyu District, Guangzhou City is located in the south-central part of Guangdong Province, in the geographical center of Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Macao. It is adjacent to Haizhu District of Guangzhou City in the north, Shiziyang in the east, opposite to Dongguan City, Nanhai District of Foshan City, Shunde District and Zhongshan City in the west, adjacent to the Pearl River Estuary in the south and bordering Nansha District, with a superior geographical position.
Panyu was founded in the thirty-third year of Qin Shihuang (2 14 BC), with a history of more than 2,200 years. Agriculture is quite distinctive, and industry and commerce are developed. It is a trading port of past dynasties, a famous "land of plenty" and one of the birthplaces of Lingnan culture and Guangdong music. Cultural education is prosperous, and it is known as the "hometown of culture". In 20 14, Panyu District ranked 9th among the top 100 districts in China.
