Planting history of Dali Sydney
Sydney tree has been cultivated in Haidong area for more than 1000 years. As far away as Dali and Nanzhao, every year when pears are ripe, local officials will choose the best Sydney as a tribute to the court. According to legend, in the Song Dynasty, a monk named Zhu Bao went to Shanchuan City (now Kunming) to give lectures, and once brought Dali Sydney seedlings to Kunming for tribute cultivation, which was deeply loved by the local people. In memory of this Zhu Bao monk, people call the imported Sydney Zhubaoli. So now the famous Zhubaoli in Kunming and Dali Sydney belong to the same category, with basically the same fruit type, taste and color, but Dali Sydney is sweeter and more tender than Zhubaoli due to climate, soil and other factors.
