Yan Zi was short and sent to Chu State. In order to humiliate Yan Zi and Qi State, Chu State opened a dog hole for him to enter. However, Yan Zi said that if the country he was sent to was a dog country, he would only enter through the dog hole. It is difficult for the Chu people to compete with them, and it is also difficult to let Yan Zi enter the customs. Later, the king of Chu met Yan Zi and humiliated him whether there was no one in Qi, so he sent such a dwarf. Yan Zi said that Qi is full of talents, but he is the last person who can't go to Chu. The king of Chu was silent, but he still didn't give up. He wrote and directed a group of Qi people who were caught stealing in Chu State, and asked Yan Zi if all Qi people were like this. Yan Zi retorted that he heard that the oranges in Huainan were very sweet, so Huaibei copied them for himself. As a result, oranges are sour and unpalatable because of the poor soil and water. Qi people are good citizens in Qi, but they steal in Chu. Is it because Chu is "acclimatized"? The king of Chu was speechless, saying only that the sage Yanzi was humiliated when he was joking with him.
? This story was recorded by Liu Xiang in the Spring and Autumn Annals of Yanzi in the Western Han Dynasty, which showed the words and deeds of Yanzi, a sensitive and eloquent sage, but at the same time, Spring and Autumn Annals of Yanzi also recorded another story of Yanzi in the period of Qi Jingdi-two peaches killed three scholars.
? The so-called two peaches killed three scholars. During the period of Emperor Jing of Qi, there were three great generals with outstanding achievements and bravery: Gong, Tian Kaijiang and Gu. Yan Zi remonstrated with Emperor Jing, and was ready to kill these three scholars long ago. So he asked three generals to come and said that the king had two rare peaches to give to the two who had made the greatest contribution to Qi. Gong and Tian Kaijiang respectively stated their contributions and picked up peaches. Gu was very angry and drew his sword in public. Gong and Tian Kaijiang sighed and committed suicide. Gu saw himself forcing two warriors to death for two peaches, and at the same time he was ashamed and committed suicide. Yan Zi has never spent any time in the team, and it is shameful to alienate the warriors through tricks.
In these two stories, Yan Zi plays a completely different role, which also makes us deeply feel the versatility and complexity of this man. He not only praised his excellent diplomatic means of making Chu, but also despised the man's plot to kill samurai. This is also a three-dimensional historical figure. It's hard to judge by loyalty and treachery. Can only say that the ingenuity is really extraordinary!
