On May 1938 and 1 day, the Japanese army formally organized "Force D" to attack Xiamen Island, and assembled in Luowan, Jinmen on May 6.

In the early morning of May 10, the Japanese fleet anchored from Luoluo Bay and landed in Jinni and Pukou in Wu Tong respectively. "China relies on barbed wire and cement bunkers to carry out fierce and tenacious resistance with machine guns and grenades."

After landing, the first, second and third battalions of the Japanese army, along the Quanhe Highway, crossed the river and hit the board all the way; Fourth and fifth battalions, along the southern coastline of Xiamen Island, all the way to Qianpu.

Then, the fifth brigade moved on, from Qianpu to Baishibao; The fourth brigade turned a corner and hit Lianban all the way to meet the first, second and third brigades who arrived in Lianban. Then, the four brigades joined forces to attack Xiamen city.

After the four brigades laid the city, they sent another brigade to attack the Rock Fort and Hu Lishan Fort, and finally joined the fifth brigade at Baishi Fort. At this point, the fighting has lasted for three days.

On the last day, on the morning of May 13, the Japanese army once again sent troops to sweep the area around the lake. At noon that day, the Japanese army announced the occupation of Xiamen Island.
