The rise of Jieshou City can be traced back to the Spring and Autumn Period, when it was called Yangcheng, but it was only used as a residence. Because its city is often close to Shui Ying, it is located on the main waterway from the Central Plains to the south of the Yangtze River. In the Northern Song Dynasty, it became increasingly prosperous and formed Jiegou Town, which is one of the eleven towns below Yingzhou County.
