This film is based on historical events. During World War II, the Allies formulated the "seaside" plan, which destroyed the factory for producing heavy water set up by the German Nazis in Norway, making it impossible for the Nazis to make atomic bombs. The film depicts the process of this battle of wits. As the story takes place in Telemark province, Norway, which is famous for skiing, the title of the film has been translated into Snow Hero.

The struggle took place at the Norsk hydrogen plant in Weimock, Norway, which produced the most heavy water in the world at that time. Heavy water is an important raw material for making atomic bombs. After the Nazis occupied the factory, they stepped up the production of heavy water and prepared to build an atomic bomb.

At that time, America was also preparing to build an atomic bomb. In order to destroy the plan made in Germany, a special intelligence team was formed jointly with Britain to conduct a thorough investigation of the Naursk hydrogen plant, and it took eleven months to formulate a detailed destruction plan. In order to implement this action plan, two action groups were set up, named "Swallow" and "Haiyuan".

1On February 7th, 943, six members of the Haiyuan team exploded and destroyed 3000 pounds of heavy water in this factory. In the same year 1 1 month, Norwegian intelligence personnel reported to London that the factory quickly resumed production. Priceless machines and 3600 gallons of heavy water in Naursk factory sank into the lake in the explosion. Knut and other four people also disappeared after arriving in Oslo, Norway by car that night.
