Steering wheel history
The rudder of the original vehicle controls driving. It transmits the violent vibration generated in the process of driving to the driver, which increases the difficulty of controlling the direction. When the engine is installed in the front of the car instead, the driver can't drive the car with the rudder because of the increase in weight.
This newly designed steering wheel came into being. The gear system introduced between the driver and the wheel is flexible to operate, and the violent vibration from the road is well isolated. Not only that, a good steering wheel system can also give drivers a feeling of intimacy with the road.
120 years ago, the steering wheel originally installed by automobile inventors on steam cars was installed on the vertical steering column, which was not conducive to the driver's manipulation and hindered the line of sight.
1In the autumn of 887, the mechanic of Daimler Automobile Company overhauled a felton car coming from strickland. When the crane operator hoisted the repaired car body back for assembly, the hook suddenly slipped out and the car body fell on the steering column, causing the steering column to bend several degrees from the vertical position.
A repairman tried to correct the bent steering column, but unexpectedly found that the new angle made the steering wheel no longer difficult to operate and blocked the line of sight.
