Sun Jian is Sun Quan's father.

Wen Tai, son of Sun Jian, was born in Fuchun County, Wu Jun, and was a warlord general in the late Eastern Han Dynasty. At that time, he joined the allied forces to attack Dong, and was named Sun Jian by Changsha Prefecture. History books say that he is extraordinary in appearance, broad-minded and curious. In the novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Sun Jian is called the Tiger of Jiangdong. In the first year of Zhong Ping, he took part in the battle against the Yellow Scarf Army, and later set out to fight against Dong Zhuo.

In April of the second year of Chuping, Sun Jian conquered Jingzhou, and Liu Biao was under the command of Yuan Shu. Huang Zu failed and fled to Xianshan. Sun Jian chased him. Huang Zu's ambush shot an arrow from the bamboo forest, and Sun Jian was shot by an arrow, and his brains died against the current. He died at the age of 37. According to the Records of the Three Kingdoms, he is a descendant of the military strategist Sun Wu, and Sun's son, Later Jin, was posthumously named Emperor Wu Lie.

After winning Nanyang, he was appointed as another Sima. Sun Jian's son Wen Tai is said to be a descendant of Sun Wu, a strategist in the Spring and Autumn Period. He was a general and warlord at the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, and he was also one of the Moji people of the Dongwu regime. History books say that he is "extraordinary in appearance, broad in temperament and curious". Participated in the battle against the Yellow Scarf Army and Dong Zhuo, and was killed in the battle against Liu Biao. His son, Sun Quan, was the founding emperor of Sun Wu because of his official worship of General Lu, also known as "Sun Broken Lu".
