During the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty, the public board of the French Concession crossed the border to build Xujiahui Road. 1900 (in the 26th year of Guangxu reign of Qing dynasty), pereroberts road, lujiawan road (now Chongqing south road), Li Xuehua road (now Jianguo middle road) and shooting range road (now Jianguo west road) were successively built for transit. China's borders include XieXu Lu Road, Xietu Road, Luban Road and Dapu Road. With the development of urbanization, many old buildings have appeared in the north. Only French businessman Dali Foreign Firm has built 277 two-story buildings. There are Xinxinli, Dapufang, Xiangxingli, Jinshouli, Li Jinde, Tongfengli, Chu Garden, Ruijin New Village, Li Mingde and Hepingli. These alleys are densely populated and there are many small shops, such as Xinxin Lane, which is only 100 meters long. There are 1 1 cigarette paper shops, 5 butcher shops, 1 pawn shops, 3 rickshaw shops, noodle shops, porridge shops, cotton shops, roasted seeds and nuts shops, barber shops and so on. There are opium dens and casinos, which are called "assorted alleys". Residents are mostly small traders, clerks and ordinary workers. There are hooligans, habitual thieves, drug addicts and so on. Form evil forces and oppress the masses. The development of southern China is slow. Besides Neirihui City, there were many farmland and cemeteries in the early years of the Republic of China. During the Anti-Japanese War, refugees from other provinces flooded in and the population increased. Residents are mainly rickshaws and vegetable vendors, and most of them build "rolling earthworms" on the spot, forming densely populated shanty towns. According to the statistics at the beginning of liberation, the residents living in shacks accounted for 49. 1% of the regional population, all of which were concentrated in the south. Since 1930s, Zhaojiabang has been silted up gradually. Later, due to Japan's invasion of China, it became a dead bank, with piles of garbage, swarms of mosquitoes and flies, sun and rain, and stinking. A group of beggars and scavengers, mostly living in water sheds or wrecked boats on both sides of the strait, even three families in a boat, formed a large area of shanty towns on the water in old Shanghai.
On the eve of liberation, there were 16 factories in this area. There are 58 in 1993. Among them, there are Pacific Weaving Factory, China Pencil Factory No.2, Shanghai Rubber Shoes Factory No.7, Guanghua Bleaching and Dyeing Factory and Socks Factory No.9, which have a long history and great social influence. Street economy was established in 1958. By 1993, there are 47 economic entities with employees 1463, with an annual output value of 56,666,900 yuan, a profit of 2 million yuan and tax payment1440,000 yuan.
After liberation, the people's government attached great importance to environmental transformation and construction. Since 1950s, shanty towns have been gradually transformed by filling up Zhaojiabang and building boulevard. By 1993, a total of multi-storey and high-rise houses 1 13 have been built, with 43 commercial outlets and/kloc-0 farmers' market. In the planned Dapuqiao area, the widening project of Xujiahui Road and the road construction project of Rihui Port have started one after another. More than 20 large-scale construction projects, such as Haihua Garden and Haixing Plaza, have been started one after another, with a construction area of over 6,543,800 square meters, which has further promoted the comprehensive transformation and construction of this area and made it a new commercial and residential community with convenient transportation and elegant environment.
