Built in the Tang Dynasty, the Millennium Temple is a combination of Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism. People from different regions have come here for thousands of years to seek spiritual comfort and sustenance, and their religious influence has an irreplaceable position in the three northeastern provinces and Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. There are more than 100 temples built in the Tang Dynasty on Dagushan Mountain, which is one of the most intact ancient architectural complexes in Northeast China.
Three wonders of Dagushan:
The ancient theater was built in Daoguang of Qing Dynasty for six years (1826), and it has a history of nearly 200 years. It is not only the landmark building of Dagushan ancient architectural complex, but also the witness of the prosperity of Dagushan town. On New Year's Day, the fifteenth day of the first month, the Dragon Boat Festival and the Mid-Autumn Festival, temple fairs on April 18 every year have become places for tourism and trading, and continue to express the prosperity of the past.
Guanyin Pavilion, because it faces south, the local people have become "inverted temples". According to legend, the icon of Guanyin Bodhisattva once flew from the sea with its back facing south, which made the local plague disappear and made people feel good, so Guanyin Pavilion was built. The ancient couplet of Guanyin Pavilion is also very meaningful. The first part is "Ask the scholar-officials why they sit backwards", and the second part is "Sigh the world and refuse to turn back". The first part is full of fun and wisdom, with questions and answers in the tone of human and Guanyin.
Hornless grass dragons, two horned grass dragons in the middle of the triple-eaved gatehouse of Guandi Hall, have long been a wonder of Guandi Hall. Together with the roof of the ancient theater and the Guanyin Pavilion, they constitute the three wonders of Dagushan ancient architectural complex.
